Pet Portraits

Mary's soul connection to Mr. Waffles speaks through her drawing. She captured his being and I will cherish the gift of his portrait and the reflection of his eternal spirit for years to come.

Thank you for the amazing amazing piece you did of Henry. I don’t know how to thank you enough. These past 2 days mark the 3 month mark of Henry’s death and knowing we now have this warmed my entire soul.

Paco passed at the beginning of 2026—the close of a huge chapter and the opening of a new one. A teacher once told me that animals are here to teach humans how to live. They carry so much for us.

Some weeks after he passed, Mary surprised me with a painting of him. The timing alone was a gift. But what moved me most was the spirit she brought to it—the way she didn't just capture what he looked like, but who he was. His personality, his energy, and most of all, his presence. Looking at it, I don't just remember seeing him. I remember feeling him—in his most playful, open, inviting self.

I grew up in a family of artists and studied painting at Pratt. I'm an art snob and worked hard to be one. Mary's portrait of Paco is the real thing. Everyone who sees it says the same.
